[Posted: 10/20/24] Avoiding Workplace Political Discussions and Giving Grace

Oct. 30, 2024

Original message dated October 29, 2024

Dear University Services,

As I shared at last week's town hall meeting, we know this is a challenging time on our campus, in our nation, and around the world.  Given the current environment and the national election in the next week, I ask each of you to give grace to yourselves and to your co-workers as we navigate these difficult times.  I also remind you that we should avoid discussing politics in the workplace.  While this is always a good idea, I strongly urge you to be even more attentive to this in the weeks and months ahead.  We are fortunate to have an incredible team of people representing very diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.  Let us continue to be grateful for the amazing colleagues we have and not engage in divisive or political discussions in the workplace.

Thank you for your attention and commitment to Princeton.

Sincerely,

Chad
